Civil & Commercial Litigation
Lawyer in Delhi
Civil Litigation Lawyer in Delhi
Litigation is rarely the first choice, but when talks fail it becomes necessary, and the way a case is prepared often matters as much as the law behind it. A dispute won is usually one that was thought through early, with the evidence in order and the strategy clear from the outset.
At Biswas Law Offices we represent individuals, companies and business houses in civil and commercial disputes before the courts. The work is led personally by Tarun Biswas, a litigator of over twelve years whose practice spans commercial, contractual, property and company disputes before the District Courts, High Courts and Tribunals.
Comprehensive litigation solutions across the lifecycle.
Support at every stage, from the first notice to the final hearing.
Commercial suits
We file and defend recovery suits and commercial disputes under the Commercial Courts Act, preparing each matter thoroughly and pursuing it with a clear plan.
Contractual disputes
Where an agreement is broken, we act. We handle breach of contract claims and specific performance actions, whether you are enforcing a contract or defending against a claim.
Injunction applications
When a matter is urgent, timing is everything. We seek interim relief and stay orders from the civil courts to protect your position while the dispute is decided.
Company matters
We represent clients in shareholder disputes and company matters before the NCLT, acting for those seeking relief and those defending their interests.
Appeals and revisions
A case does not always end at the first order. We draft and argue statutory appeals and revisions before the High Courts, taking a matter further where the law allows.
Case assessment
Before you commit to litigation, it helps to know your prospects. We assess the strength of your position honestly and advise on whether to fight, settle or hold.

Commonly Answered Questions
When should I consider going to court over a dispute?
Litigation is usually a last resort, taken when negotiation and other options have failed or when urgent protection is needed. We assess your position first and advise honestly on whether court is the right step or whether the matter is better resolved another way.
What is a commercial suit and how is it different?
A commercial suit is a dispute of a commercial nature above a set value, dealt with under the Commercial Courts Act. These matters follow a stricter timeline and procedure, which makes early and thorough preparation especially important.
Can I recover money that is owed to me?
A recovery suit allows you to pursue money owed under a contract, invoice or dealing. We assess the strength of your claim, the evidence available and the likelihood of recovery before advising on the best route.
What is an injunction and when do I need one?
An injunction is an order of the court that requires someone to do something or stop doing it. It is used when you need urgent protection, for instance to prevent a party from acting in breach while the dispute is decided. We move quickly where the situation calls for it.
What can I do if the other side breaches our contract?
You may claim damages for the loss caused or seek specific performance, which asks the court to require the other side to do what they agreed. Which route suits you depends on the facts, and we advise accordingly.
Can I appeal a decision that went against me?
Often, yes. Many orders can be challenged through a statutory appeal or revision before a higher court. We assess whether there are grounds and, if there are, draft and argue the appeal.
Do you represent clients outside Delhi?
Yes. We appear before courts and tribunals across the country and act for clients based in and beyond Delhi.
